FAQs

Before making an application to us, it’s VERY IMPORTANT you read the following: WE ARE A SOLE TALENT AGENCY WITH A FOCUS ON ACTING SO PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT WITH AN AGENCY OR ON THE UNDERSTANDING THAT YOU WILL LEAVE THEM IF ACCEPTED WITH US.  Exceptions are we allow you to be with an adult model agency or extras agency and families we will consider non sole representation.

Most castings and jobs take place in London and usually with only twenty-four hours’ notice, sometimes less.  If you live outside London area, please consider the amount of travelling and expense involved for you and your child.  We do also get castings in Manchester and Glasgow for our northern clients.

Castings for school age kids are usually held after school, from 3 pm until around 6-7pm.  It is useful to have a word with school to check they are onboard with possibly leaving school early for a casting.

For adults, castings can be anytime and you could be confirmed for a shoot the following day – it can happen!

If both parents work full-time, please consider who would be available to take your child to castings and jobs, and would they be happy to do this on a regular basis?

Shoots happen at all times of the year – in holidays and in school time. If you’re not happy for your child to miss any school, then this is not for you.

Auditions:

Where possible we like to do in person audition sessions as they give us the chance to meet potential actors face to face to assess and discuss you or your child's suitability and raise any further questions you may have, as well as for us to observe your acting skills. For younger children it’s beneficial to see their overall behaviour in an unknown environment, similar to that of an average casting session.
The sessions will be upbeat, friendly and age appropriate and will involve warm up games and improvisation. If you are also interested in singing roles, we will also want to hear you sing. The audition is free to attend.
Hashtag are extremely selective with the children and young performers we take onto our books. We will only take on those we honestly feel have a good chance of getting work. You will be informed of the agency's decision in writing within 5 working days of the assessment.

In lieu of an in person audition we will ask for an acting self tape and are happy to discuss representation via zoom for adults especially graduates.

What happens if we are accepted on to your books?

We will send you our acceptance form/contract which we will ask you to complete, sign and return. We will also send you details of how to join Spotlight, discuss headshots and then once we have your completed forms, professional headshots and you have set up Spotlight we can start submitting you for jobs.

What is Spotlight?

Spotlight is a portal that connects professional performers with casting opportunities around the world. Performers on Spotlight are recognised by agents and casting professionals as the most talented in the industry. That's why Spotlight is used every day by casting directors looking to find the best performers for their projects, and is a MUST for anyone aged 4+ who is serious about acting and modelling.
You can only join through an agent; for ages 4-17 it currently costs £114 a year.  If aged 18+ you will need to check in with Spotlight to see if you fit their joining criteria. As a member of AYPA we can also recommend you and get you set up on Spotlight.

Can you guarantee us work?

Unfortunately, in this industry there are no guarantees and no agency can or should state this. However, we will put you forward to all assignments that you or your child meets the brief for.

How does the agency earn?

The agency earns from commission. We take commission from all fees earned but not travel expenses or chaperone fees. Our rate for stage is 15% and for everything else it is 25% for ages 0-20 and 20% for ages 21+

How soon will I be paid?

That depends on the client but generally 30-90 days after the job. Please note though that sometimes this can take longer

What does sole mean?

Sole means that you can only be represented by us as your agent. It means we will work with you exclusively and is what most Casting Directors favour because they know that the person submitted has only been submitted once and not by several different agencies that then becomes a fight as to which agency to go back to.
